Why take lessons? Private music instruction was paramount in my learning process; not only in how to play the cello with good technique, but how to play the emotion of the music, or the voice behind the notes. Tailored instruction meets the student where they are. It helps identify trouble spots and encourages growth in all aspects of playing the cello.

Why pursue music? There is no other feeling quite like making music. It is a form of artistic expression that connects with people in profound ways; conveys stories, movement, pictures, ideas and most of all feeling. It is challenging and rewarding at the same time. And there is always something new to learn!

Teaching Approach & What To Expect

I am a private cello instructor who offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for students to learn and connect with music. Along with tailored instruction in technique and musical understanding, I want my students to be inspired and to find the joy in music. Making music is the end goal.

Lessons include a combination of:

• exercises in fingering and bowing

• shifting and rhythmic techniques

• sight reading

• scales

• solos and duets to improve ensemble skills

• working through music from school or orchestral groups

Lessons are usually weekly and range from 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

Based on lesson requirements, students will need to purchase workbooks and additional music material tailored to individual student needs.
